Walk east from the port for a sheltered bay with more structure than Hydra's rock platforms
Mandraki is useful when you want a conventional shore rather than the ladders and rock ledges close to town. The old harbour curves into a protected bay, and the walk from Hydra port follows the coast for roughly half an hour. The final setting feels separate from the town even though no road transfer is needed.
Parts of the beach are operated seasonally, with loungers, food and water transport tied to the business schedule; public access and the exact free section should be confirmed on arrival. The shore mixes sand, pebbles and compacted material, and sea shoes help at uneven entries. Boat movements and afternoon wind can disturb otherwise calm water. Bring water for the walk and do not assume a late water taxi will run in marginal conditions.
