Sheltered sandy bays at Ios's remote southern end
Manganari is a chain of south-coast bays rather than one strip. Fine sand and low rocky headlands create shallow, protected swimming, while a few tavernas and seasonal facilities keep the main cove comfortable without urban development.
The road journey is long and winding. Use the seasonal bus where possible, confirm the return time, and carry water if exploring beyond the central cove. Boat excursions are weather-dependent and may allow only a short stop.
