Paleochori combines colourful pebble, deep clear water and organised tavernas beneath mineral-rich cliffs, with hot patches that demand care.
Our take
Mineral-coloured cliffs and geothermal hints on south Milos
Paleochori is split into adjoining sections below red, white and yellow volcanic slopes. Pebbles continue into transparent water, and geothermal activity can warm patches of sand and shallow seabed. Seasonal tavernas and loungers make the main access comfortable.
Do not dig into hot sand, touch steaming rock or sit directly below eroding cliffs. The water deepens quickly, while south wind brings waves. Move between sections by established paths rather than wading around rock in rough conditions.
