Vathospilia Beach

Vathospilia is a compact sand-and-pebble bay near Milina with no organised facilities, rewarding prepared visitors with a quieter South Pelion swim.

Our take

A small, unserviced gulf cove outside Milina

Vathospilia sits in a small indentation of the Pagasetic coast outside Milina. Sand, pebble and natural rock create a modest shore rather than a long beach, and the enclosed gulf setting is often calmer than the Aegean side of Pelion. It suits a short swim, snorkelling in settled conditions and travellers who bring what they need instead of looking for a beach club.

There are no dependable services, shade or lifeguard, and the final approach includes a walk from the road. Carry water, use shoes with grip and leave the cove clean. Families should still check depth and local conditions rather than assuming every gulf beach is shallow. Milina is the practical place for food and supplies. If the small shore is occupied, continue to another legal access point instead of spreading onto private land.
