Use a compact Chora collection to connect three ancient cities with the landscape outside
Amorgos had three important ancient city-states rather than one dominant centre, a fact that can be hard to grasp while crossing the modern island. The collection brings their material together in Chora. Sculpture, reliefs, inscriptions and smaller objects help distinguish Aegiali in the north, Minoa above Katapola and Arkesini in Kato Meria before you encounter their scattered remains.
The historic Gavras Tower is part of the visit, but it also limits space and accessibility. Hours can be seasonal or affected by staffing, so verify opening through the culture ministry or municipality rather than building a whole day around an old listing. Allow forty-five to sixty minutes. Labels may be concise; a guide or advance reading adds value. Do not touch stonework or lean equipment against the old walls, and ask before photographing exhibits.
