Start the island here so Poliochni, Kavirio and Hephaistia become connected places rather than distant ruins
The new exhibition brings together material from Poliochni, Myrina, Koukonisi, Kavirio and Ouriakos, then continues through the island's later history. This makes the museum the best preparation for driving to archaeological sites elsewhere on Lemnos. Sculpture and objects returned by private citizens add stories that a site-only itinerary would miss.
The official museum page publishes seasonal hours, admission and accessible services including a ramp, lift, Braille signs and tactile material. Tuesday is normally the closure day and last admission is before closing. Allow ninety minutes, especially before Poliochni. Confirm changes around public holidays and ask staff which resources are available in English on the visit date.
