Snails share the harbour breeze
Archontiko occupies a quiet terrace above the small harbour at Kitroplateia, away from Lake Voulismeni's busiest tables. Rosemary snails, dolmadakia, gemista, grilled octopus and whole fish come on painted plates, backed by inexpensive carafes of local white wine.
Portions run big. Split the courgette fritters or calamari before ordering fish, ask for the catch weight and take a fleece offered by staff when the evening wind cuts across the terrace; dinner gets busier than lunch.
