Climb above Polygyros for a short pine-framed view across the town and central Halkidiki
Prophet Elias gives geographical sense to a town that can otherwise feel enclosed by its streets. The climb rises through pine cover to a small chapel and views over Polygyros, the lower country and, in clear weather, parts of Halkidiki beyond. It is most rewarding as an early or late walk paired with the centre, not as a major summit expedition. The chapel also remains a place of worship, especially around its feast.
Ask locally about the clearest current footpath, because informal tracks and vehicle approaches can be confused. Wear shoes with grip and avoid the exposed climb in midday summer heat. During high fire danger, follow every closure and never smoke or park on dry vegetation. Cover shoulders and knees if the chapel is open, keep services undisturbed and take all waste back down. Sunset walkers need a torch for the return rather than relying on a phone screen.
