Spetses Lighthouse and Natalia Mela Sculpture

A pine-edged headland walk leading to one of Greece’s early lighthouses and a striking metal sculpture by Natalia Mela.

Our take

A quiet walk beyond the Old Harbour

Continue past the boatyards and waterfront tables of the Old Harbour and the island gradually becomes quieter. At the headland stands the 19th-century Spetses lighthouse; nearby, sculptor Natalia Mela’s work gives the landscape an unexpected modern accent. The reward is not a checklist monument but the walk itself: resin-scented shade, glimpses of working maritime Spetses and open Saronic water.

Go in the cooler first or final hours of the day, wear shoes with grip and carry water. The lighthouse interior is not the point and may not be accessible; treat this as a respectful outdoor walk rather than an expectation of a formal visit.
