A small-boat day shaped by weather, archaeology and swim stops
The south of Antiparos is better understood from a small boat than through a windscreen. Departures from the Agios Georgios area may cross towards Despotiko, trace low cliffs and stop at coves or sea caves that have no practical road access. A well-paced trip leaves time for swimming rather than turning every inlet into a hurried photo opportunity.
Operators do not all offer the same route. Ask whether the archaeological sanctuary is included with authorised entry or merely viewed from the water, how much shade the boat has, whether snorkelling equipment and drinking water are provided, and what happens if wind cancels the trip. Confirm passenger limits and lifejackets before departure. Strong swimmers should still wait for the skipper's signal, because current and boat traffic vary around narrow channels.
