A locally arranged morning for Aspri Ammos and the cave
A local boat turns Othonoi's west coast into one coherent outing rather than two isolated pins. Departing Ammos in suitable weather, the route can reveal the change from the settled southern bay to exposed white cliffs, then stop at Aspri Ammos and approach Calypso's Cave if the sea permits. A small group and an unhurried skipper fit the island better than a fixed spectacle.
Arrange the trip through accommodation or directly at Ammos, verify that the operator and vessel are licensed, and confirm lifejackets, passenger limit, price and expected return before boarding. Morning is often preferable, but never guaranteed. Bring water, shade, food and a dry bag because the beach has no facilities or signal. A cancellation is a safety decision; switch to Ammos Beach or the lighthouse rather than looking for a less cautious boat.
