Use Therma as a forest and water base while treating the lower pools as mountain terrain, not a natural water park
Therma is Samothrace's north-coast base for forests, streams and Mount Saos approaches. A route from the village follows the Tsivdogianni watercourse toward the lower Gria Vathra pools. The first accessible sections can make a rewarding short walk, especially when approached for vegetation and geology rather than as a checklist of swimming holes. Thermal-water facilities and public access can change, so current local information matters.
The same safety rules as Fonias apply. Rain on upper slopes can raise water rapidly; polished rock is slippery even in dry weather, and continuing from one pool to the next may require exposed scrambling. Check weather and local warnings, wear shoes with grip and stop where the maintained route stops. Do not jump, climb beside falling water or attempt the Mount Saos summit as an improvised continuation. Carry water and an offline map despite the village's proximity.
