Agios Pavlos Beach

Agios Pavlos pairs a serviced village cove with wilder dune-backed shores over the headland, each with different exposure and effort.

Our take

A sheltered cove beside the great Cape Melissa dunes

The main cove at Agios Pavlos is compact, sheltered by rock and convenient to tavernas and rooms. Climb the marked steps over Cape Melissa and the scene changes: steep sand slopes fall toward a much more open Libyan Sea shore with far fewer services.

Choose between them according to wind, mobility and supplies rather than appearance alone. The dune descent is tiring in heat and the outer water can be rough when the cove remains manageable. Avoid trampling stabilising vegetation and carry everything back from the open beach.
