Family cooking worth the walk to Messaria
Harama belongs to a small family-run hotel in Messaria, about a 20-minute walk from Chora. The restaurant's scale fits the village: breakfast, cooked dishes, seasonal vegetables and seafood are prepared for a limited number of tables rather than an all-day crowd. It is a useful place to taste the domestic side of Cycladic food away from the island's more polished dining rooms.
Walk out in the cooler part of the day and carry a light for the return after dinner. Ask which dishes are ready rather than expecting every item at every service; small-island kitchens sensibly follow supply. The taverna operates in summer, so confirm both the opening date and meal period before making the trip from the south of the island.
