Grafiotissa Beach

Grafiotissa is a remote northern beach below the chapel of Panagia Grafiotissa, reached on foot across Pserimos's dry, open interior.

Our take

Walk to a chapel-backed shore with enough water for the exposed return, not just the outward view

The reward here is the combination of an undeveloped coast and the small white chapel above it. The route is far rougher and hotter than its map distance suggests, while the shore has no organised shade, water or rescue provision. Wind may make this side of the island unsuitable even when Avlakia is calm.

Start early, download the route, wear closed shoes and carry the return supply of water before leaving the village. Do not force doors at the chapel, disturb livestock or build stone piles. Turn around if route-finding, heat or sea conditions become doubtful.
