A convenient harbour-side dip, not a castaway beach
Mersini Beach, sometimes identified with Pisso Ammos, sits close to the island's deeply sheltered harbour. It is the practical swim for the hour before check-in or the final morning before a ferry, with sand, trees and almost no transfer from the port. The setting includes quays, moorings and arriving vessels rather than an uninterrupted natural horizon.
Watch harbour activity before entering and keep well away from ferry manoeuvres, mooring lines and working boats. Water quality and surface conditions can change after heavy traffic. For a full beach day, Tsigouri and Livadi offer more room; use Mersini for convenience and a calm pause around the travel schedule.
