The easiest first swim below Chora

Tsigouri is the beach most visitors can reach without reorganising the day. A downhill road and path lead from Chora to a 350-metre curve of sand, with trees along the back and a small islet offshore. The bay is popular with families because the entry is generally gradual, but wind can still bring chop and the walk home is entirely uphill.

Come in the morning for easier shade and a quieter swim. A seasonal restaurant above the bay and a beach operation cover basic needs, yet neither should replace your own water. Strong swimmers and paddlers sometimes head towards the islet; only do so in calm conditions, stay visible to boats and do not treat the short distance as a guarantee of safety.

Access: Walk about 10 to 15 minutes downhill from Chora or arrive by scooter, bicycle or local transfer. The final approach and sand are not step-free, and the return walk has a sustained climb.
Facilities: Seasonal sunbeds and umbrellas, a restaurant above the beach, limited natural shade and water-sports or paddling equipment when operators are open; do not rely on a lifeguard, shower or public toilet.
Cost: Public access and unreserved sand are free. Organised seating, food, drinks and equipment cost extra; ask the operator about the current seating policy before settling in.
