Choose a small south-coast cove when the water is calm and you are prepared for a beach without dependable support
Vitsilia offers a smaller alternative to the island's better-known beaches and makes sense on the same carefully planned southern day as Petrokopio or Vlychada. Do not try to collect every cove. Choose one according to wind, road condition and shade, then leave enough time to enjoy it without creating a rushed return.
Ask in the village which access is currently usable and where a vehicle can turn without damaging vegetation. Bring water, food, sun cover and water shoes. The cove is unsupervised; assess depth, wave action and boat traffic before swimming. Mobile reception and services are not guaranteed. Keep away from unstable rock, light no flame and remove all rubbish.
