Syntrofia Restaurant

Syntrofia is a lakeside guesthouse restaurant in Psarades where local fish, Prespa beans and regional meat connect dinner directly to the surrounding landscape.

Our take

Lake fish and Prespa produce on the Psarades shore

Syntrofia sits in the only Greek village on Great Prespa's shore, and its menu is most interesting when it stays close to the lake and fields. Ask which fish is local and available that day, whether Prespa beans are being served, and what has been cooked slowly rather than ordering by habit. The water-facing setting makes lunch especially appealing after a boat trip.

Species, catch and supply vary, so do not assume every fish on a broad menu came from Prespa. Confirm prices where portions or fish are sold by weight, and explain allergies clearly. Psarades becomes busy on fine-weather weekends but can be very quiet outside them; reserve and verify service before making the drive. If combining a meal with a boat, keep enough flexibility for wind-related changes.
