Make the official centre the first stop in a changed forest
Dadia should now be visited through current conservation guidance, not a saved pre-fire itinerary. The 2022 and 2023 fires altered large parts of the national park, yet the wider mosaic of woodland, openings and grazing land remains important to raptors, including the Balkan population of black vultures. Begin at the official Information Centre to understand what burned, what survived and which observation or interpretation is responsible that day.
Contact the centre before leaving Soufli. The official management unit states that buses towards the bird-of-prey observatory do not operate when the daily wildfire forecast reaches level four or temperatures exceed 40°C; other access can also change. Bring binoculars, never use playback or drones and accept that wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Keep to the authorised route, follow staff instructions and make recovery rather than a trophy photograph the purpose of the visit.
