Two quiet eastern coves beyond Drakano Tower
Agios Georgis lies past the restored Tower of Drakano at Ikaria's far eastern end. Two adjoining sandy bays are separated by rock and overlooked by the small church of Agios Georgios. The walk and lack of development keep the setting quieter than Faros, even though the airport is geographically close.
Vehicles stop before the tower and the remaining route takes roughly 25 minutes on foot; seasonal boat access may also be possible. Wear shoes suitable for rough ground and bring all water, food and shade. There is no lifeguard or quick escape from changing weather, so turn back if the wind rises or the path feels beyond your ability.
