Rhodes's wind-driven southern sandbar
At Rhodes's southern tip, a sandy isthmus links the main island to Prasonisi when sea level and weather allow. One side may appear calmer than the other, while windsurfers and kitesurfers use the reliable wind and broad launch area.
This is not an automatically safe paddling beach: current crosses the point, equipment travels fast and the isthmus can flood. Use supervised zones, keep clear of launch corridors and do not attempt the walk to the headland when water covers the sand. The long drive deserves a fuel and weather check.
