A marble watchtower above Ikaria's eastern cape
Drakano Tower rises at Ikaria's eastern end, within the remains of an ancient fortified settlement. The round structure is built from large white-marble blocks and survives to roughly 13 metres, making its construction easier to understand than a low field of foundations. The cape opens towards Fournoi and Samos, with Agios Georgis beach farther along the path.
Vehicles stop before the site and the final approach takes about 25 minutes on foot. There is no visitor parking at the monument, no toilet, shop or accessible route, and shade is scarce. Wear firm shoes, carry water and check the published opening pattern before setting out; outdoor access information can change without much notice.
