Sifneiko Beach

Sifneiko sits just beyond the Kastro, close enough for an evening walk from Chora but exposed enough that swimming conditions can differ sharply from the town beaches.

Our take

A west-facing sunset beach that depends on the wind

Sifneiko faces west towards Sifnos, about 500 metres from Antiparos Town's main square. The sandy bay and open horizon make it an appealing place to watch the sun drop, and nearby benches, a playground and a seasonal café let non-swimmers enjoy the setting. Walking through the Kastro on the way gives the outing more shape than a simple beach stop.

This is not the beach to choose automatically on a windy day. Northerly and westerly weather can bring chop, waves and currents, while the open shore has less dependable protection than Psaraliki. Check the water before committing, keep children close and use an east-coast beach when conditions are rough. Sunset draws a crowd even when swimming is poor, so walk rather than competing for limited roadside parking.
