Tsiakiris Art of Silk Museum

The Tsiakiris family museum complements PIOP with machinery, audiovisual interpretation and a direct link to a business still producing silk goods.

Our take

Working machinery carries the silk story into industrial production

Do not skip this museum because you have already seen PIOP. Its focus is more industrial and contemporary: working machines, video, family production history and a multilingual guide show how thread becomes a finished textile at commercial scale. The neoclassical building on the main street also makes it easy to place the visit between a town walk and lunch without moving the car.

The museum currently advertises free admission and step-free facilities including a ramp, elevator and accessible toilet, but hours are unusually broad and deserve a same-day telephone check. Live silkworms are seasonal rather than a permanent exhibit. The shop sells the family's work and other products; ask about fibre content, origin and care for a specific item. Allow enough time for the guided component instead of arriving just before closing.
